i'm taking a break from studying to post about my day yesterday and because i need to stimulate my brain before i can actually be productive.
yesterday morning we went on a boat cruise on the thames to greenwich. we passed all of my favorite london landmarks: the london eye, the tower bridge, and of course, big ben. they never get old. so full of magic.
don't let caitlin's face fool you, it was a jolly good time. the sun was shining, we soaked up some vitamin d, and all was good in the world.
greenwich is this adorable little town outside of london. we went to a market, through a museum and then to the observatory where the meridian runs through. yes, ladies and gentlemen, i stood in two places at once - both the eastern and western hemispheres. such a thrill. there was a huge line of people waiting to get a photo with the line, but audrey and i were really sneaky and just hurried and took our pictures in the back. lines are not for me. caitlin and britin decided to be moral citizens and waited in the line, so audrey and i went to the space exhibit thing and ended up losing them.
audrey and i then walked to the train station, where i saw the cutest bull mastiff ever. i should have gotten a picture with him just because he was such a doll. so big and so lovable. he came right up to me and leaned on me like our dog toby does. it's the dog way of hugging. it melted my heart.
it was friday so borough market was open and audrey and i stopped to get a bratwurst. delicious in every way describable. i was tempted to buy every baked good in that market as usual, but i refrained because my mom and hunter are coming next week and will want to try everything with me. so excited to see them and show them this place.
on fridays i conduct devotional, so i shared one of my favorite quotes of all time, in hopes to encourage the center during finals time:
we learn to endure to the end by learning to finish our current responsibilities, and we simply continue doing it all of our lives. we cannot expect to learn endurance in our later years if we have developed the habit of quitting when things get difficult now.
 - robert d. hales.
that being said, i then popped an excedrine, downed a sugar free redbull, and spent the entire night doing my mythology notebook, which has weirdly become my favorite assignment of my collegiate career. i may or may not have stayed up until 3.30am because i did not want to stop. it's hard to explain, but the assignment is to find mythological references in paintings or architecture or sculptures or anything really and then find out if it has been recorded as a mythological reference in the oxford guide to classical mythology in the arts and then to find out why the author chose to incorporate that myth. it's like a scavenger hunt. we are required to do 28 of them, and i may or may not have almost 40 done. you know you are truly insane when you enjoy your homework.
i am now once again in the library, about to finish my mythology assignment for good, do 16 one page papers for my religion class, and begin studying for my finals next week which just might kill me.
on the bright side though, i only have six more days of this crazy house and eleven days til i am home.

I love Greenwich too. The maritime museum makes the Revolutionary War sound like a minor skirmish, but they do have class.
I'm so glad you have enjoyed yourself, and availed yourself of so much history and culture. Hope to see you one of these days.
