i was up past 2am this morning, finishing oliver. words can't even express how relieved i felt when i finished that book, all 356 pages of it. i typically am such a reader and i love every novel i'm assigned, but being forced to read in london seems very unfair. if i had read oliver at home, on my own time, i would have really enjoyed it. but here, not so much. anyway, since i was up so late, i slept in this morning til about 11, which was so nice. i didn't have class til 12, and sleep is precious here. i woke up and showered and then went to british literature class and discussed our reactions to oliver. i won't bore you here with my criticism of oliver, but if you want to chit chat about it, i would more than enjoy that discussion.
after class, macy, caitlin and i went to nandos, where we all got chicken pitas. nandos is a five minute walk from our house and next door to one of the train stations we frequent everyday. we live in a very very ritzy and generally safe part of london called westminster, and our house is just across the street from hyde park. our professors and program directors tell us that we are completely safe in the day time, and we believed it, until today. so we're walking back from lunch and all of the sudden we hear this old grandpa man screaming, and we turn to look at him across the street, and he is pointing at this other man, who had stolen his wallet and was sprinting away. it was exactly like a scene out of a movie, the old man was hollering "thief! catch that man!" and then all these good samaritans were chasing after the robber unsuccessfully. we then held on to our bags a little tighter, and i have to admit i feel a little uneasy about these streets now. after we all took what had happened in, and how oliver twist-esque it was, i said out loud to the girls "if my boyfriend was here, he would have caught that thief." kind of a ridiculous thing to say, i know, but it's true. he really would've.

today i found myself a little fatigued and a little crampy and craving chocolate and experiencing a lot of hot flashes for some strange reason (go figure) and all i wanted was to be in bed with my boyfriend and have him rub my tummy and feed me swedish fish. so i did the next best thing, which was purchase a cadbury chocolate bar, and video chat my man. words can't express how delightful cadbury caramel filled chocolate is. truly heaven sent. i got to wake david up and talk to him for an hour, which made me so happy. i love him in the mornings, when he is warm and just the teensiest bit delusional and irresistibly melty. sorry, i'm sure you are so over reading about my boyfriend, but i can't say enough about how complete he makes me feel. i hope you have the opportunity to meet him in your lifetime. he is my hero, he has saved my life and i am nothing short of ecstatic that he chooses to be with me.
after i spent an hour with david, we had dinner and then were craving something sweet and since we are the smartest girls in the byu london center, we hid two huge pieces of chocolate cake deep in the fridge last night. all of the left over cake had other wise been eaten, but we were sneaky and hid ours so after dinner tonight, we went to town on it. seriously. four girls, a couple really good excuses to consume large amounts of sugar without guilt, two pieces of huge chocolate cake, one jolly good time.

(classy, i know.)

(please, can we all acknowledge that face of euphoria right here?)

(jenny happy early birthday. glad we kicked off a great week with chocolate :)

in short, i still really really love london.

Yup...Cadbury's is the BEST. Soemtime I'll tell you about my experience with the London "thief." Actually, there were two of them, but they didn't get away. The "little old lady" they tried to rob was an undercover policeman, and he/she nearly killed one of them with her? cane. London is as safe as any city, and there is safety in numbers. Keep enjoying it.
