today was lovely and peaceful and one of those days when all is good in the world. you know what i'm talking about...days when you wake up actually refreshed and your hair looks awesome and the sun is shining and you have the that song from legally blonde when she's getting ready for her big date with warner stuck in your head. if you don't know what i'm talking about, the song goes like this: "it's a perrrrrfect dayyyyy and nothing's standing in my way. don't you try to rain on my perrrrrfect dayyyyy." you know?! maybe?

anyway, audrey, jenny and i went to go get brunch at this gallery we had heard about called the wallace gallery. i ordered eggs benedict and a cranberry juice and we shared a stacked plate of toast served with the yummiest strawberry jam imaginable. when i was little, i remember going to breakfast on saturday mornings at this little place called richie's diner a lot and today made me channel those memories even though i was at a kind of swanky place in london, not a bootleg diner and the two places have only one thing in common: they both serve food. even though these two places are very different and i am no longer eight years old, the feelings of saturday-morning-out-to-breakfast feels the same to me. it's relaxed and carefree and bright. i hope i'm making sense. probably not, since who else gets sentimental over eggs benedict?

after brunch we went through the museum, and it turns out that today happens to be louis XV 300th birthday, and the wallace gallery was celebrating with a whole bunch of activities like impersonators, plate decorating, opera singing, etc. jenny found this hall where they were teaching dancing, and audrey and jenny and i joined and learned how to dance 1700s style. jenny was my man and audrey had to be partnered with this little girl who did not want to hold her hands. haha so funny.

after the gallery we came home and picked up macy and then went to portobello road, which is this market just down the street from us. portobello marked has a ton of cute shops and is famous for antiques, but today it was so crowded since it was such a beautiful day. we stopped and got a hummingbird cupcake which was delicious as usual and went into a few shops and such.
audrey and i then met caitlin at this mexican place called tortilla. mexican food is hard to come by here, believe it or not. i've had thai food, indian food, lebanese food, japanese food, etc, but no mexican in london yet. the place we went to was kind of like chipotle, except probably better. i got carnitas tacos (my fav) and then we left to go see if we could get tickets to legally blonde but at the box office we discovered that elle woods was being replaced that night by her understudy, and we didn't want to see the understudy, we wanted the real deal, so we walked around for a while and then came home to 27 palace court.
tomorrow we have church in the early morning. let's hope tomorrow is as beautiful as today was.
i just really love perfect days in london town.
