yesterday we had a day trip and went to warwick castle which is pronounced warick castle, not warwick. apparently it's one of those things like greenwich in new york where tourists pronounce is "green witch" when it's really "grenich". you know? anyway, the castle was a mini disney-esque tourist attraction and there were about 5 elementary schools there on field trips. we got to see the castle, go through it, climb a super narrow staircase to the top of a tower and then go to a peacock garden, which was the highlight of the castle trip. peacocks are the coolest birds. we kept trying to get the birds to fluff their feathers but we weren't successful but they were still beautiful. their mating call sounds a lot like they're yelling for help, which i think is kind of funny. i wish they were friendlier though. i would love a pet peacock.

after warwick we went to anne hathaway's cottage. no, not anne hathaway the actress, anne hathaway shakespeare's wife. our tour guide was quite a character. this old lady who made sexual innuendos during her entire shakespeare spiel. apparently susanna, shakespeare's first daughter, was conceived in the anna hathaway cottage on the seat next to the fireplace. thank you for that wonderful, essential piece of knowledge, lovely tour guide. i think i've mentioned it before but whenever we tour these old cottage houses, i am shocked at how small the beds are and how low the ceilings are. it's like they're my size. but i'm telling you, that man of mine, would just not fit in the olden days.
after the cottage we went to the birthplace of shakespeare in statford upon avon. not to be confused with stratford, because apparently there are seven towns of stratford in england. stratford upon avon is where shakespeare is from. we did a little tour of shakespeare memorabilia and then went through the house he was born in. we probably saw the bed he was conceived in. we love conception places and murder spots here at the byu london center.
we were then stuck in stratford upon avon for about four hours because we were seeing a king lear show at 715. audrey, caitlin and i got subway and ate in starbucks and sat and did nothing for a while. i really like starbucks. i like how it feels like home and it feels safe. david keeps a countdown of days til i come home and right now i'm at 44. even though i will be sad to leave this experience and this wonderful place, i will be so glad to get back to things that are familiar to me.
the king lear play was so good. the last shakespeare play we saw, twelfth night, i slept through the whole first half. but i really loved lear and i thought it was so well done. i always complain about the amount of school work i have here, but i really am learning so much. i get to read so much shakespeare, so much poetry and so much classic british literature and it's really a good thing. if only i had 8 more hours in my day, i would greatly appreciate it.
there are a lot of things to be excited about in my life. i'm going to paris in ten days, i'm going to euro disney, i'm going to scotland, my boyfriend will be there to pick me up from the airport on april 17th, i get to live with whit and kels in the spring, i'm excited for my spring classes, and my best friend serving the Lord in bolivia comes home on june 1st. ohh life is good. when i was getting my nails done before i came to london, my mom's nail guy was talking to me about my chinese astrology sign and how i'm a snake and since i'm a snake, the past two years of my life have been terrible. and it's true, 2008 and 2009 were just a huge series of unfortunate events. but then he promised that 2010 would be better and so far so good. i am a believer in chinese astrology because i absolutely love 2010.
that is all for today.
