last night after we picked up kevin from the airport, we planned to go to this light show, where you drive through a lit up and decorated golf course. the line was so so so long, we ended up waiting about an hour and a half. poor david was so antsy. pictures never do christmas lights any justice, so you'll have to trust me when i say that it was amazing - soooo many lights.
david and his brothers always talk about when they were little and theresa would go out of town, mike (david's dad) would feed them corndogs and rootbeer for every meal. mike and i had been talking about how much we love corndogs for the past couple days, so it seemed like fate when we saw this little stand before exiting the course. corndog and frozen chocolate covered cheesecake on a stick = perfect meal.
we came home and got in pajamas and listened to mike tell stories. i love mike's stories, especially about david's glory days as a football star. did you know that my man was the best left tackle in the state of california? apparently he used to be quite scary on the field. but now he's my sweet heart. and i'm so infinitely glad.
the summer after david graduated, he went to play football at the university of utah. we didn't know each other then. he spent a couple weeks at the U and then decided that it wasn't the best choice for him and his broken back. he gave up his lifelong passion for his future, and moved home. we met a couple days later and i can't help thinking that must've been fate - i came into his life just as a huge chapter ended unexpectedly.
call it fate, call it serendipity, call it predestination, call it whatever you want, but it's real.
i'm sure of it.

Merry Christmas Emma! I remember when we picked Gregory up from his mission, it was November... and we got to go to one of those "light" displays. It was in this forest like area. I have never seen anything like it. Yes, they just seem to do everything bigger in Texas, don't they! Have a wonderful time on your trip!
